We Energies Proposes Data Center Special Rates

We Energies filed a proposal with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin for special electric rates for data centers, including 500-megawatt subscriptions and a 75/25 fixed-cost split. PSC staff and interest groups testified this month that the plan could double We Energies' demand by 2030, risk $19.3 billion in planned generation costs, and shift plant and fuel costs onto regular customers. The groups call for longer cost-recovery terms and full-cost responsibility from data centers.
