Texas Issues Largest Gas Power Permit

Texas regulators this week issued the largest U.S. air pollution permit to Pacifico Energy’s planned 7.65 GW 'GW Ranch' gas power complex in Pecos County, the developers and permitting documents show. Global Energy Monitor data released Thursday show Texas added nearly 58 GW of gas power projects in 2025, much aimed to power data centers. The projects could emit millions of tons of greenhouse gases annually, raising major emissions and planning concerns.
