Nubia demonstrates NaviX Ultra with Doubao cross-app AI agent

Nubia showed the NaviX Ultra at WAIC 2026 as a production-oriented AI-agent phone built with ByteDance's Doubao assistant. Official Nubia and ZTE material confirms the device and its cross-app positioning, while a Zhidx hands-on report says the phone queued tasks across Douyin, Qunar and Luckin Coffee and displayed execution progress. The same report describes a proactive memory feature based on saved content and usage patterns. Pricing, full specifications and a firm retail date have not been published, and the public evidence does not yet establish how reliably the agent works outside controlled demonstrations or how its memory data is protected.
What Nubia showed at WAIC
Nubia displayed the NaviX Ultra, a phone built around ByteDance's Doubao assistant, at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. Nubia's official Weibo account identifies the device by name, while parent company ZTE describes it as a mass-production flagship intended to execute complex tasks across apps from a single natural-language request.
The company is positioning the NaviX Ultra as the second generation of its Doubao phone work, following the limited M153 technical-preview device. The focus is not another chatbot panel: Doubao is integrated deeply enough to observe the interface, break a request into steps and operate supported apps on the user's behalf.
What the hands-on demonstration showed
A Zhidx report republished by 36Kr says its reporter tried the phone at WAIC. In one example, Doubao opened Douyin and found requested cat videos in roughly 30 seconds while showing the current step and task progress. The reporter then submitted several jobs together: finding videos on Douyin, searching Qunar for flights and ordering an iced Americano through Luckin Coffee. Jobs that could not run immediately entered a queue and executed in sequence.
The report also describes an active memory feature. On-site staff said saved content and usage patterns from different apps can feed a personal memory system so the assistant can adapt over time. That is a company-described capability rather than an independently audited privacy design. The available material does not explain retention periods, encryption, consent controls, cloud processing boundaries or how users can inspect and delete stored memories.
Confirmed versus still unknown
| Confirmed or demonstrated | Not yet established publicly |
|---|---|
| NaviX Ultra was displayed at WAIC with Doubao integration | Full hardware specifications |
| Cross-app task execution and queued jobs were demonstrated | Retail price and firm delivery date |
| Nubia showed four color variants and a dedicated AI control | Reliability across unsupported or changed apps |
| ZTE calls it a production-oriented flagship | Independent security and privacy testing |
The hands-on account says the phone has not yet been formally released and that its interactive pages are not publicly accessible. Although ZTE says the device has reached mass-production readiness, that is not the same as a documented retail launch.
LDS assessment
The most interesting design choice is the queue. Mobile agents often look convincing when completing one scripted task, but real utility depends on scheduling multiple jobs, recovering from app changes and exposing failures clearly. NaviX Ultra's visible task state and sequential queue address part of that operational problem.
The harder problem is trust. A phone agent that can read screens, remember habits and operate commerce or travel apps needs narrow permissions, confirmation before consequential actions, durable audit logs and easy memory deletion. Until Nubia publishes those controls and independent reviewers test them outside the booth, NaviX Ultra should be treated as a credible product demonstration—not proof that autonomous phone agents are ready for unrestricted access.
Key Points
- 1Nubia and ZTE showed the NaviX Ultra at WAIC 2026 as a Doubao-powered phone designed to execute tasks across apps.
- 2A Zhidx hands-on report observed queued tasks spanning Douyin, Qunar and Luckin Coffee, plus visible execution progress.
- 3Pricing, full specifications, retail timing and independently tested privacy controls remain undisclosed.
Scoring Rationale
The NaviX Ultra is a concrete consumer-device demonstration of OS-level agent behavior, including cross-app execution and task queuing. Its impact is moderated because pricing, specifications, retail availability, reliability and privacy controls are not yet documented or independently tested.
