India Launches Domestic Semiconductor Assembly Facility

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 28, 2026, inaugurated Micron Technology’s Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, marking launch of India's first domestically produced semiconductor chip facility. Built with an investment of ₹22,516 crore, the plant will assemble and package SSD and RAM chips and is expected to create about 5,000 jobs.
