Ganguli Predicts India Retains AI Talent

Surya Ganguli, Associate Professor at Stanford, told ANI at the India AI Impact Summit (Feb 16–20, 2026) that many top U.S. computer scientists are of Indian origin and that India is poised to retain talent and build homegrown, sovereign AI. He said sensible, case-by-case regulation has a role but warned that heavy-handed early rules could stifle innovation. Ganguli noted reliability is stronger in coding, math and some physics than in law or social domains.
