DeepMind Hires Hume Engineers, Licenses Voice Technology

Google DeepMind inked a licensing agreement with voice AI startup Hume AI and will hire Hume CEO Alan Cowen and several engineers, Wired reported Jan. 22. Hume's emotion-recognition voice models and team will be integrated into DeepMind's frontier models to advance voice-first, emotion-aware interfaces, which could improve consumer devices and customer-support agents.
