UW Madison Chancellor Joins Columbia As President

Columbia University selected University of Wisconsin–Madison Chancellor Jennifer L. Mnookin as its next president, the UW–Madison community learned Sunday; she plans to remain through spring commencement and depart in May. Mnookin, who became chancellor on Aug. 4, 2022, led the campus through student encampments, state-driven DEI rollbacks and the loss of 145 federal awards. UW System President Jay Rothman will appoint an interim chancellor and the Board of Regents will conduct a formal search.
