PMRDA Unveils Rs 826.62 Crore River Rejuvenation Plan
PMRDA has drawn up an integrated Rs 826.62 crore river rejuvenation plan to clean the Indrayani and Pavana rivers, presented on 18 December in Aundh. The Centre and Maharashtra will fund 60/40 with Rs 674.13 crore for Indrayani and Rs 152.49 crore for Pavana, including new and upgraded sewage-treatment plants, tertiary treatment, underground sewers and 14 STPs totaling 5.84 MLD MMBR. The DPR has IIT Roorkee technical approval and awaits National River Conservation Directorate clearance.
Key Points
- 1Allocates Rs 826.62 crore for integrated rejuvenation of Indrayani and Pavana rivers, presented 18 December.
- 2Targets heavy pollution in pilgrimage towns using new STPs, tertiary treatment, sewer networks and IIT Roorkee approved DPR.
- 3Enables 60/40 central-state funded construction with 15-year O&M, guiding local municipalities and practitioners on implementation.
Scoring Rationale
Concrete, funded regional infrastructure plan with technical approval; limited novelty and narrow geographic impact constrain broader relevance.
