Patients And Clinicians Report Barriers To MHealth Adoption

Researchers at University of Michigan conducted semistructured interviews between September 2023 and August 2024 with 20 clinicians and 28 patients to explore attitudes influencing recommendation and adoption of mHealth apps. They identified seven attitude categories including perceived benefits, patient–clinician relationship effects, usability, prior experience, and trust, and found clinicians often doubt older adults’ interest and ability. These perceptions could reduce clinicians' app recommendations and hinder uptake.
