ORNL Launches Next-Generation Data Centers Institute
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is launching the Next Generation Data Centers Institute to tackle rising electricity demand from AI datacenters and support US energy and AI priorities. The institute will focus on six research areas, including thermal management, power architecture, grid integration, security, systems modeling and operational load management, aiming to cut cooling energy (40 to 60 percent) and bolster grid resilience.
