OpenAI Rolls Out ChatGPT Age Prediction

OpenAI announced in September 2025 that it is rolling out an age-prediction tool for ChatGPT consumer accounts, classifying users as over 18 or under 18 and applying protections to suspected minors. The system uses account age, activity times, usage patterns, and stated age, defaults to under-18 when uncertain, and requires selfie verification via Persona to restore full access for misclassified users.
