Mistral Wins France Military AI Contract

France's Ministry of the Armed Forces on Thursday notified a framework agreement with startup Mistral, giving the armed forces access to the company's advanced AI models, software, and services. Under the deal, Mistral's systems will run on French-controlled infrastructure and be fine-tuned with defense-specific data to preserve technological sovereignty. Financial terms were not disclosed; the agreement positions Mistral as a European alternative to US AI firms.
