Fraport Deploys APIDS For Prohibited Item Detection

Fraport and the German Federal Police have started deploying APIDS (Automatic Prohibited Item Detection Systems) at Frankfurt Airport, marking the first European airport rollout of the AI-powered software. After EU-backed testing and national certification, APIDS now integrates with more than 50 Smiths Detection CT scanners as part of Fraport’s €50 million security-screening investment, aiming to speed checkpoint processing while keeping final threat decisions with onsite officers.
