xAI Expands Colossus Supercomputer to Gigawatt-Scale

xAI is expanding its Colossus supercomputer with a third Memphis-area facility announced in late December 2025, aiming to boost training capacity to nearly 2 gigawatts. The build adds hundreds of thousands of GPUs, including GB200 and GB300 chips, and expects an early 2026 ramp for Colossus 2, increasing energy, cooling and infrastructure requirements for large-scale LLM training.
