UK-US Scientists Trial AI Battlefield Medical Triage

UK and US researchers led by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory and DARPA have trialled AI to support battlefield medical triage, testing whether personnel will trust AI to make life-and-death decisions. In October 2025 exercises at Merville Barracks and RAF Brize Norton, participants' decision preferences were profiled and AI systems were aligned or deliberately diverged from those profiles without disclosing AI control. Analysis is ongoing to assess trust, delegation and operational safety.
Scoring Rationale
Official trials led by Dstl and DARPA give the report credibility and relevance to human-AI teaming. Score reflects moderate novelty and segment-level scope, useful strategic insight but limited technical detail; today's publication avoids freshness penalties.
