UK Expands AI Use In Courts Nationwide

The British government will expand AI use in courts in England and Wales, Justice Minister David Lammy said at Microsoft's AI tour in London on 24 February. The rollout will deploy AI for transcribing speech, summarizing judgments, scheduling cases, and an AI-assisted listing tool, with the Justice AI Unit receiving over £12 million extra funding next year. Pilots claim savings of more than 25,000 hours, while legal accuracy concerns persist.
