Sony Considers Delaying PlayStation Next-Gen Launch

Sony is reportedly considering delaying the rollout of its next-generation PlayStation console to 2028 or 2029 due to a global memory-chip shortage, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Executives at Micron and Lenovo called the imbalance structural, while Sony reported PS5 holiday shipments of 8 million units, a 15.7% decrease from 9.5 million in Q3 December 2024, highlighting strained consumer hardware supply.
