Shopify Cuts Partnerships Team Amid AI Shift

Shopify announced another round of layoffs on Wednesday that eliminated roles in its partnerships division as part of a restructuring to focus on agentic commerce and AI-driven offerings. VP of partnerships Atlee Clark said the company will build low-friction systems and a new partnerships program to help merchants capture the AI opportunity; Shopify paid partners more than $1 billion in 2025. The company did not disclose total layoffs.
