Researcher Develops AI Cervical Cancer Early Detection
Tirupati-based researcher Lalasa Mukku has developed an AI learning system that analyzes periodic colposcopy images to detect cervical precancerous changes up to five years before tumour formation, the study reported on February 17, 2026. Using an Enhanced Gaussian Mixture Model to isolate the cervix, the model achieved 94% accuracy, 95% recall and a 94.21 F1 score; Mukku also published a separate SCI paper (impact factor 13.9) on AI-based youth anxiety detection to prevent suicidal tendencies.
Scoring Rationale
Strong peer-reviewed results and patents across a practical screening model; limited external validation and deployment scale restrict broader impact.
