Parents Report Teens Using AI Chatbots

Pew Research Center surveyed 1,458 U.S. teens and their parents Sept. 25–Oct. 9, 2025, and found 64% of teens report using AI chatbots while 51% of parents say their teen uses them and about 30% are unsure. Parents broadly accept chatbots for searching (about 80%) and moderately for schoolwork (about 60%), but only 18% approve emotional support use. Findings show demographic gaps by income and race.
