NXP Releases i.MX 93W Integrated Edge SoC
NXP Semiconductors announced the i.MX 93W at Embedded World 2026, combining the i.MX 93 applications processor with the IW610G tri-radio into a single SoC. The chip includes one or two Cortex-A55 cores (up to 1.7 GHz), a Cortex-M33 coprocessor, and an Ethos U-65 micro-NPU rated at 1.8 eTOPS, and NXP says it can replace up to 60 discrete components. Sampling is targeted for H2 2026.
Key Points
- 1Combines i.MX 93 processor and IW610G tri-radio into single i.MX 93W SoC.
- 2Integrates Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, Thread/Matter and Ethos U‑65 micro‑NPU (1.8 eTOPS).
- 3Reduces bill-of-materials by up to 60 parts, simplifying edge ML device design and deployment.
Scoring Rationale
Strong practical impact for edge ML hardware, limited novelty since it integrates existing components but accelerates deployment.
