Niantic Builds Geospatial Model For Machine Navigation

Niantic Spatial is engineering a large geospatial model to connect robots and AI with the physical world, CEO John Hanke says, with updated versions planned over the coming months. The move targets the 80% of global economic activity occurring offline—factories, farms, and cities—by enabling high-accuracy navigation, task planning, and future semantic reasoning. Partners include robotics and world-model vendors such as Nvidia and Boston Dynamics.
