Mobile App Reduces BPSD In Dementia Subgroup

Yonsei University researchers report a single-blinded randomized controlled trial (36 caregiver–person with dementia dyads) testing a caregiver-initiated, individualized multimodal mobile app over 4 weeks. Overall group effects on BPSD, agitation, and depression were not statistically significant, but a subgroup with clinically significant baseline BPSD improved (β = −12.885; 95% CI −24.530 to −1.240; P = .03). Findings suggest potential benefit for higher-severity cases and call for further personalization research.
Scoring Rationale
Randomized controlled design and peer-reviewed publication support credibility, boosting score. Small sample size, limited overall effects, and subgroup-only significance constrain novelty and scope, reducing the overall impact despite timely relevance.
