MediMama App Reaches 22,415 Downloads First Year

The Netherlands Pharmacovigilance Centre Lareb developed and launched the MediMama mobile app on Mother’s Day 2024 to provide evidence-based safety guidance for over-the-counter medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Built using input from 253 potential users and mixed-method evaluation, the app covers more than 250 OTC medicines across 27 categories and recorded 22,415 downloads with an average of 370 daily unique users in its first year. The study describes the app's development, dissemination, and first-year usage outcomes.
Scoring Rationale
Peer-reviewed JMIR publication documents a national mHealth app with robust first-year adoption, giving high credibility and direct usability; novelty and scope are moderate (vertical maternity-care focus), and relevance to core AI/ML/DS is low, yielding a mid-range score. Article is current (published today), so no timeliness penalty applied.
