Lovable Engineer Cuts LLM Costs $20M

Benjamin Verbeek, a technical staff engineer at Lovable, said in a LinkedIn post that rewrites to the platform’s system prompt over the holiday period cut annual LLM costs by nearly $20 million and made responses about 4% faster. He said the team removed duplicated and verbose instructions, refactored remaining sections with an AI model, A/B tested changes over the New Year, and observed lower token use and improved instruction-following.
