Larian is using generative AI in parts of its game development, but CEO Swen Vincke confirmed in a Bloomberg interview after The Game Awards last week that the newly announced Divinity title will contain no AI-generated in-game content. The studio says it uses AI for idea exploration, concept art and placeholder text, has not seen major efficiency gains, and will instead speed production by parallelizing quest and story development while expanding staff.
Key Points
- 1Uses generative AI for ideation, concept art, and placeholder text across development pipelines
- 2States new Divinity will have no AI-generated in-game content to preserve human-created storytelling
- 3Impacts production: AI aids efficiency modestly; studio adopts parallel narrative workflows to shorten timelines
Scoring Rationale
Official CEO interview adds credibility, but the update is a modest, studio-level operational note with limited wider novelty.
