IOC3 Identifies Suspect In Health Data Breach
The International Online Crime Coordination Centre (IOC3) says it has identified the person believed responsible for the Manage My Health hack, one of New Zealand's largest privacy breaches, in which the attacker using the handle Kazu demanded US$60,000 and published data samples. IOC3 shared its investigation with RNZ and authorities; a High Court injunction prevents access or sharing of the stolen records while the National Cyber Security Centre and police work with Health New Zealand to attribute and mitigate impact.
Scoring Rationale
Official investigative attribution and national-scale breach raise impact, limited by sector-specific scope and absence of technical forensic detail.
