Hospitals Adopt 5-Layer AI Platform Architecture

This systematic review (PROSPERO CRD420251133590) analyzed hospital-based AI implementations through May 2025 and derived a five-layer architecture covering infrastructure, data, algorithm, application, and security and compliance. Across 29 eligible studies from 11 countries, application and data layers showed highest maturity (means 3.17 and 3.00), while security and compliance was lowest (mean 1.69). The authors conclude sustainable hospital-wide AI requires stronger investment in infrastructure, data governance, and compliance.
Key Points
- 1Identify five-layer hospital AI architecture validated across 29 empirical studies
- 2Show strong technical core among data, algorithm, and application layers
- 3Recommend prioritizing infrastructure, data governance, and compliance for scalable deployment
Scoring Rationale
Comprehensive systematic review and empirical mapping supports practical architecture, limited by exclusion of non-English and gray literature.
