GAO Presses NSF To Improve IT

The U.S. Government Accountability Office on Feb. 12 sent a letter pressing the National Science Foundation’s CIO, Clyde Richards, to improve how the agency plans, manages, and procures IT, especially cloud services. GAO demands standardized cloud SLAs with remediation, overhauled contracts for high-value cloud assets, annual IT-portfolio reviews, and closure of outstanding cybersecurity recommendations; it cc’d Federal CIO Gregory Barbaccia. The guidance targets NSF’s $9 billion IT estate and programs such as CloudBank and an AI research operations center.
