FIA Deploys AI To Reconstruct Fugitives' Faces

Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) announced on April 5, 2026 that it has developed an AI-powered system to reconstruct and update most-wanted suspects' appearances from older photographs in real time, Director General Dr. Usman Anwar said. The upgraded Digital Red Book—partly public—will include CNICs, passports, contact data, case records and 143 listed human traffickers, aiding identification and investigations.
Scoring Rationale
Official government announcement with direct application of AI gives moderate novelty and strong credibility; national law-enforcement scope and clear practitioner implications raise relevance. Score modestly reduced for limited technical detail and moderate depth in reporting.
