Computable Guidelines Reveal Adherence Measurement Limitations

A scoping review from the University of Sydney published in J Med Internet Res in 2026 reviews computable representations of guideline recommendations and methods to detect deviations. Searching five databases to November 2025, the authors included 24 studies (14 measuring adherence) and found predominance of rule-based alignment, BPMN/ontologies/FHIR models, and limited patient-context sensitivity. They call for context-aware, standardized models integrated with clinical workflows.
Scoring Rationale
Comprehensive scoping review with peer-reviewed evidence; however, limited incorporation of patient-specific context reduces immediate operational utility.
