Cisco Deploys Foundation-Sec-1.1 For Identity Security
Cisco announced Tuesday it is using an 8-billion-parameter instruction-tuned model, Foundation-Sec-1.1-8B-Instruct, to power Duo Identity Intelligence. The Llama-3.1-8B-based model is tuned for cybersecurity tasks like triage, threat modeling, vulnerability prioritization and identity-behavior analysis, and will produce clearer weekly identity digests for over 2,000 customers. The model can run on-premises or in the cloud and supports broader security automation.
Key Points
- 1Deploys an 8B instruction-tuned Llama-3.1-based model named Foundation-Sec-1.1-8B-Instruct for Duo
- 2Targets cybersecurity workflows: automates triage, threat modeling, vulnerability prioritization, and identity-behavior analysis
- 3Enables clearer weekly identity digests, on-prem/cloud operation, and actionable insights for 2,000+ customers
Scoring Rationale
Official Cisco deployment of a tuned LLM shows practical impact and credibility, but offers incremental rather than novel capabilities.
