China Raises Grain Output Target To 725 Million Tonnes

China's draft 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) sets an annual grain production target of 1.45 trillion jin (about 725 million tonnes) by 2030, up from 1.43 trillion jin in 2025, officials said. The document emphasizes farmland protection, expanded high-standard farmland, and wider use of technologies such as drones and AI, alongside disaster-mitigation and income safeguards to bolster food security amid extreme weather and global uncertainties.
