Caseway and the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) are moving toward a settlement framework, Caseway CEO Alistair Vigier said this week, just over a year after CanLII sued the startup in November 2024 for allegedly scraping its database to build an AI legaltech tool. Vigier said the parties have 'resolved the major issues' and paused litigation to negotiate terms; CanLII declined to comment.
