Anthropic Deploys Mythos to Find Critical Vulnerabilities

Anthropic has launched Project Glasswing, providing about 40 defensive partners including AWS, Apple, Google, Microsoft and others limited access to Claude Mythos Preview to scan and flag software vulnerabilities. Anthropic says Mythos outperforms prior internal models on benchmarks and has already identified thousands of high-severity flaws — including a 27-year OpenBSD bug and a Linux exploit chain — while also warning the model poses severe misuse risk. Access is restricted, Anthropic committed up to $100M in usage credits, and maintainers of critical open-source projects are included to accelerate fixes and disclosure.
Scoring Rationale
The story combines a new frontier model release with immediate, measurable security impact: Anthropic claims Mythos found thousands of high-severity bugs and is being shared with major vendors. That's highly relevant to ML engineers, security teams, and platform operators. The score reflects both technical capability and governance implications.
