Wipro Adds iSkill Agent to Personalize AI Academy Learning

Wipro has added iSkill, a conversational AI agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams, to help associates navigate its AI Academy. In a Microsoft customer story published August 26, Wipro said the academy serves more than 240,000 associates across 144 role-based learning paths; the agent uses role and training data to recommend appropriate courses.
Wipro has introduced iSkill, a conversational AI agent intended to help associates find relevant learning paths in the company's AI Academy. The agent is available through Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams, according to a Microsoft customer story published August 26.
The Academy was created about three years ago and serves more than 240,000 associates, Wipro said. It offers 144 role-based learning paths plus AI and cloud courses from partner platforms. Wipro said the earlier experience left employees to search a broad catalogue and decide where to begin.
How iSkill makes recommendations
After an associate signs in with a Wipro Teams identity, iSkill uses information about the person's role, band, function, skills, and completed AI and cloud certifications. Microsoft says a Fabric Data Agent pulls those internal data sets, a Power BI semantic model retrieves the relevant information, and the agent searches the SharePoint-hosted Academy catalogue for matching courses.
That makes iSkill a navigation layer over an existing learning programme rather than a new course catalogue. The reported aim is to connect employees with role-relevant options when the number of available paths makes manual discovery difficult.
Access controls and evidence limits
Wipro said access is limited through a validated security group, while role-based controls are meant to prevent managers from looking up an individual employee's data. Business Standard separately reported the same account of the identity, role, and certification data used for recommendations.
The available sources describe Wipro's design and early use, not an independent audit of recommendation quality, privacy controls, or workforce outcomes. They also do not establish that a suggested course leads to a particular career or productivity result.
Why the rollout matters
For large internal learning libraries, the practical problem is often discovery: employees may have many courses and paths available without a clear starting point. Wipro's rollout shows how a company is applying a conversational interface to that matching task while retaining access controls around employee data. Teams evaluating a similar approach would still need to test recommendation relevance, permissions, and measurement in their own learning systems.
Key Points
- 1Wipro's iSkill agent is available through Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams for its AI Academy.
- 2Wipro says the Academy serves more than 240,000 associates across 144 role-based learning paths.
- 3The available reporting describes the system design and access controls, not an independent outcome evaluation.
Scoring Rationale
A documented enterprise deployment of a conversational agent for internal learning at Wipro, with concrete implementation and access-control details. The sources do not independently measure learning or workforce outcomes.
