Whitney Biennial Confronts Fragmented Contemporary Reality

The 2026 Whitney Biennial, curated by Marcela Guerrero and Drew Sawyer, runs through August and presents 56 artists, duos and collectives. The exhibition foregrounds fragmentation, dystopian allegory and digital-media works that probe U.S. imperial legacies, media overload and collective trauma. By favoring indirect, intergenerational perspectives and international voices, the show reframes Americanness while exploring technological dysmorphia and surveillance afterlives.
