Valar Atomics Airlifts Nuclear Modules To Utah Test Site

Valar Atomics airlifted six unfilled nuclear reactor modules from March Air Reserve Base to Hill Air Force Base and Utah on Feb. 15, in what the U.S. Department of Energy called the first airlift of its kind. The modules will be tested at the Utah San Rafael Energy Lab and are intended for Valar’s Ward 250 reactor program, targeting operation by July 4, 2026.
Key Points
- 1Airlifts six reactor modules from March Air Reserve Base to Utah on Feb. 15 for testing
- 2Demonstrates DOE-backed push to accelerate advanced nuclear reactors for defense and AI data centers
- 3Enables testing at Utah San Rafael Energy Lab and aims for Ward 250 operation by July 4, 2026
Scoring Rationale
Significant first-of-its-kind demonstration with DOE backing, but limited technical specifics and primarily niche relevance outside core ML research.
