UN Establishes Independent Scientific Panel On AI

UN Secretary-General António Guterres convened the inaugural meeting on Tuesday of a new Independent International Scientific Panel on AI, composed of 40 experts from diverse regions and disciplines. The panel will provide independent scientific assessments to close the 'AI knowledge gap' and evaluate AI's economic and societal impacts. Its findings aim to give countries a shared, science-based understanding to inform policy and reduce bias from governments or industry.
