UN Establishes Independent International AI Panel

The United Nations on 12 February approved a 40-member Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence drawn from 37 nations to analyse AI impacts. The panel, likened to the IPCC, will serve as an "early-warning system and evidence engine" and produce policy-relevant reports to separate hype from reality. Only the United States and Paraguay voted against the appointments.
