UIDAI Deploys AI Biometric Deduplication Platform

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Feb. 20 rolled out a next-generation AI-driven biometric deduplication and document verification platform to strengthen Aadhaar enrolment and update processes nationwide. Developed with IIIT Hyderabad and running on NVIDIA DGX inference infrastructure, the system uses indigenous fingerprint, face and iris models and DigiLocker API checks, performing billions of computations per transaction. UIDAI said the rollout, already implemented in several states, will expand nationwide in the coming months.
Scoring Rationale
High national-scale deployment with indigenous AI models, but reporting lacks deep technical detail and independent verification.
