UI Students Develop RunSight For Visually-Impaired Runners

A University of Indonesia student team has developed RunSight, an AI-powered smart-glasses wearable that provides real-time navigation and obstacle detection to help people with visual impairments run independently. The Labmino UI group was named Indonesia's first Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Global Ambassador after national and regional rounds beginning May 2025, and they attended the Global Ambassador ceremony in Milan on Feb. 8–10, 2026.
Key Points
- 1Develops RunSight smart glasses combining sensors and AI for real-time navigation and obstacle detection
- 2Addresses barriers in sports access by enabling visually impaired runners to navigate tracks independently
- 3Suggests low-energy, affordable wearable design patterns useful for inclusive assistive-device development
Scoring Rationale
Officially recognized, practical assistive-device innovation with clear user impact; limited technical detail and single-source coverage.
