Türkiye Launches Nationwide 5G For Security

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on April 2, 2026, officially launched Türkiye’s transition to next-generation 5G infrastructure under the "Strong Türkiye in Communication with 5G" vision, saying the rollout will initially use 60 percent domestically produced components and target nationwide coverage within two years. He framed 5G as a national-security and digital-sovereignty priority, highlighting investments in fiber expansion, Türksat 6A, a new Cybersecurity Presidency, and expected benefits for IoT, edge computing, and industry productivity.
