Texas Man Attacks Sam Altman Home and OpenAI HQ

A 20-year-old Texas man, Daniel Moreno-Gama, allegedly traveled to San Francisco and attacked both the home of Sam Altman and the OpenAI headquarters on April 10, 2026. Authorities say Moreno-Gama hurled a Molotov cocktail at Altman's residence just before 4 a.m., then attempted to break into OpenAI's Mission Bay office approximately an hour later, telling security he intended to burn the building and kill people inside. Federal prosecutors charged him with possession of an unregistered firearm and damage and destruction of property by means of explosives, carrying maximum penalties of 10 years and 20 years respectively. California state charges include attempted murder, attempted arson, and possession of a destructive device, with potential sentences from 19 years to life.
