Tech CEOs Join Presidential Science Advisory Council

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and Google cofounder Sergey Brin will be the first four members of President Trump's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), the Wall Street Journal reports. The White House announced in January that the 13-member panel (expandable to 24) will advise the president on science, technology, education and innovation and "weigh in on AI policy," co-chaired by David Sacks and Michael Kratsios.
Key Points
- 1Appoints four tech leaders to PCAST: Zuckerberg, Ellison, Huang, and Sergey Brin.
- 2Signals federal focus on AI policy by incorporating prominent industry expertise into advisory processes.
- 3Raises conflict-of-interest concerns for regulators and practitioners tracking AI governance and industry influence.
Scoring Rationale
High relevance and official sourcing drive the score, with limited novelty beyond prominent executive appointments.
