Student Builds Raspberry Pi Bird Detection System
Ansh Trivedi, a product design student, built a Raspberry Pi-powered bird detection system after a parrot stopped visiting his window. The system uses a USB webcam and a simple computer-vision model to detect birds, save frames with timestamps, and expose a web interface showing live view, counts, recent captures, and peak activity windows. After tuning to reduce false positives from light and foliage, it reliably logged numerous pigeon visits but did not rediscover the parrot.
