Stripe, Coinbase, Cloudflare Form x402 Foundation
Stripe, Coinbase Global, and Cloudflare on April 2, 2026 announced the formation of the x402 Foundation, a nonprofit hosted by the Linux Foundation to manage the open x402 protocol for seamless online payments. The foundation will steward a vendor-neutral standard enabling payments to be embedded into web interactions, supported by members including AWS, Google, Mastercard, Microsoft, Stripe, and Visa. Developers and merchants should expect interoperable internet-native payment tooling to emerge.
