Spreedly Launches Agentic Commerce Payments Channel

Spreedly said on March 5 that agentic commerce is now live as a channel on its open payments platform, allowing merchants to process agent-initiated transactions over existing payment infrastructure. Merchants can remain merchant of record and keep current payment service provider relationships, and Spreedly said support for UCP and ACP protocols is planned with an initial release later this quarter. The company highlighted vaulting, tokenization and liability implications for fraud and chargebacks.
Key Points
- 1Enables merchants to process agent-initiated transactions on existing payment infrastructure while remaining merchant of record
- 2Preserves merchant control over checkout economics, PSP relationships, and liability, addressing merchant disintermediation concerns
- 3Requires robust vaulting, tokenization and credential management to handle fraud, chargebacks and multi-agent routing
Scoring Rationale
Practical merchant-focused product launch enables agentic payments; limited novelty and depth beyond integration and vaulting specifics.
