South Korea Posts Strong January Export Growth

South Korea's exports jumped 33.9 percent year-on-year in January 2026 to $65.85 billion, the highest January on record, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources reported on Feb. 1. Semiconductor shipments surged 102.7 percent to $20.54 billion, helping drive an $8.74 billion trade surplus and marking the 12th consecutive monthly surplus, with gains across cars, wireless devices and computers.
