South Korea Lawmakers Introduce Defense AI Bill

South Korean lawmakers from the ruling Democratic Party and main opposition People Power Party introduced a bill on Monday to promote and comprehensively manage artificial intelligence in defense research and development, jointly proposed by Reps. Yu Yong-weon and Boo Seung-chan with 31 other lawmakers. The bill would create a committee, policy center and research institute, and require a government basic military AI plan every three years, aiming to systematize the defense AI lifecycle and ensure stable operational use.
